Robert Rauschenberg

No title (1969)
Robert Rauschenberg–Transfer Drawings of the 1960s

Robert Rauschenberg artwork captures time visually.   His art captures pieces of the past and present.  The physical artwork  recalls memory for differently for every viewer.  Every object encourage memories of the past or what is currently happening.  Rauschenberg's art make a statement of culture at the time of creation of the work.  The collage technique develops interest through the use of texture, movement and repletion.  Rauschenberg's "Combine's" are the best examples of his work because the work combines interesting techniques and items to make a unified finished mixed-media art.  Rauschenberg's transfer techniques produced interesting art although the final art work did not have the unified and thoughtful visual interests of the "Combine's".
Solvent and vegetable dye printing  transfer techniques produce unique visual images.  Collages and "Combine's" are artistic techniques using mixed-media or mixed-techniques.  To develop artistic skills will improve digital media art through the study of artists of the past.  Robert Rauschenberg can be inspiration for today's computer artists.  Understanding collage, "Combine's" and transfer techniques can directly transfer to Photoshop and other digital tools.
I appreciate Robert Rauschenberg's artwork although the most important aspect of his artwork is inspiration.  His art work inspires me to think about combining diverse and unusual images together to create interesting art.  Stepping out of my comfort zone by trying new combinations, colors and techniques to create art.  Study the elements and principles of art to improve the final product created by digital tools.  Rauschenberg's artwork inspires me to create digital art.

  2. Even though Rauschenberg's artwork is far from pleasing the eye, I still have a profound respect for his art. I like his ability to use anything of no value and turn it into something valuable. In addition, the fact that he combines random objects together can be taken on a surface level or undersurface level. In other words be open-minded to new ideas even though it may involve change.
