The
central theme of my work for Project 3- Dreamweaver was recreating the website
for Café des Artises restaurant in Leonardtown, Maryland. The owners of the Café des Artises have
supported Saint Michael’s School where I teach Art. Loic and Karleen Jaffres host an art exhibit
and artist brunch for the student artists.
I my inspiration for the website developed from a review of the top French
restaurant websites in Washington, D.C.
I
meet three times in person with Karleen Jaffres to discuss the website and
gather information. On my last meeting I
showed Karleen a sample of the website that I created for her. I listened to Karleen describing what she
wanted the website to function. I made a
chart from all the other sites on how the information was organized. The two of us decided how we could organize
the information on the website. This was
a great exercise for me to design the website.
Dreamweaver
website builder was challenging and frustrating during the process creating the
Café’s website. I started this project
with absolutely no experience with Dreamweaver program. I learned that with persistence and hours of
experience working with the program I began to understand the program. One thing I found out is make more folders
and organize your work. I also learned
do not move your files around you may lose the images if you keep moving the
files. I found that high quality images
are extremely important to the design and look of the website. I did not have control on the quality of
images that has caused some frustration for me in designing the website.
My
work habits were to outline the organization, function and look of the website. The organization and classification of the
website was a great beginning to work on the website. I continually reviewed the original function
and purpose of the website. I found that
this method worked well to develop and design the website. I could improve my work habits by having time
to acquire more photographs from the Café des Artistes. I budged my time properly and consistently
working on the project.
After
reflecting on the finished the finished project 3, I perceive that I achieved
and completed development of a website better than I could have imagined. During this website development process I was
able to figure out solve problems by trial and error. I have a great sense of accomplishment with
the completion of this project. I feel
that I accomplish my goal to develop a better functioning website for the Café. While I was developing the website I used art
principles and elements of art in the design.
I feel that the overall design and function of the website is
functioning well, easy to use and welcoming.
What has not worked as well is the quality and amount of images I had available. I will follow up with the Café to adjust the
website to acquire with better images and up to date information.
I
would give myself an “A” for this project.
I deserve the grade because of the amount of time and energy to learn
and create a website. I am pleased that
I did not know anything about the program and at the end of this class I feel
that I can develop and design another website.
Thank you for a spectacular class in Media Art design.
